Ever thought of dipping your toe into the fun world of improvised comedy? If so, then this class is for you! We’re offering a beginner’s course in the foundations of improvised comedy, taught by Second City alumnus, David Shore.

This is an eight-week course focusing on scene work. Students will learn all the basics of improv, including, “yes, and”; who, what & where; listening; status; being in the moment; how to organically start a scene; entering and exiting; space work; and performing multiple person scenes. Improv classes can help improve your public speaking, ability to think outside the box and listening skills. No prerequisites. Please note, if you’re going to miss two weeks of class in a row, or three classes in total, it would be best to take the course when it better fits your schedule.

David Shore is an alumnus of the Second City Mainstage in Toronto and the IO West in Los Angeles where he was a player coach for four years. A thirteen-time Canadian Comedy Award Nominee and two-time winner, David is also the founder of the 6-time CCA winner, Monkey Toast: The Improvised Talk Show (founded in 2003) and was its host for 7 years before relocating to London, UK in 2010. While in London, David founded Monkey Toast UK, which quickly grew into one of the largest and most respected improv training schools in Europe. David has over 25 years’ experience as an improviser and as an instructor, teaching at Second City Training Centre, the Bad Dog Theatre and Monkey Toast UK.
