URBAN MYTHS: Sybil Goldstein
Curated by David Liss
In Koffler301, we celebrate the legacy of Sybil Goldstein, one of the founding members of Toronto’s ChromaZone Collective, curated by David Liss. URBAN MYTHS offers a rare opportunity to encounter the full breadth of Goldstein’s vision and includes many artworks never seen by the public until now. Since her unexpected passing in 2012, her work has been held in storage by her family in Toronto. In this unique viewing experience, visitors will have the opportunity to take home one of her original artworks once the exhibition closes.
William Kentridge: SELF-PORTRAIT AS A COFFEE POT
Presented by Koffler Arts, with work from the William Kentridge Studio
In Self-Portrait as a Coffee Pot, William Kentridge lays bare his creative process. This series nine 30-minute films, was shot in his Johannesburg studio during and in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, and completed in 2023. In the main gallery, we invite visitors to take off their coats, have coffee or tea and a biscuit, and get comfortable in a cozy, living room space inspired by elements from Kentridge’s studio, as they view films of Kentridge at work in this same studio. The room has been designed by celebrated theatre designer, Teresa Przybylski.
The event is supported by the Kultura Collective, UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, CANVAS, Azrieli Foundation, and Koffler Arts.
