Course Descriptions:

Beginner Yiddish (BY) with Ruth Gerlock:

Learn to greet friends and family in Yiddish and kvetch a little too! Participate in a dialogue or two and sing some fun Yiddish songs, while learning new vocabulary.

Intermediate Yiddish (IY) with Sharon Power:

In this sample intermediate-level Yiddish class, we will use dialogues and games to practice vocabulary and learn some new grammar, and we’ll also read and discuss a poem in Yiddish. Suitable for those who can read alef-beys and have some prior experience with the language.

Advanced Yiddish (AY) with Sasha Hoffman:

We will chat a bit, read a short story about charity by Tashrak (Yisroel Yoysef Zevin), and then talk some more, while getting to know each other; this session will be conducted in Yiddish, with some vocabulary provided.

Yiddish Theatre Workshop (TW) with David Gale:

Director/teacher David Gale will lead you through a fun and inclusive sample of his long running Yiddish theatre workshop including participants storytelling a mayse (story,) plus reading a character from a Yiddish play in transliteration. All levels of Yiddish and theatre experience welcome.
