Neuberger HEW 2026 will present a thoughtful array of public programs and commemorations that offer compelling ways to engage with the history of the Holocaust and its legacy.

Join the Toronto Holocaust Museum and the Toronto Daughters of Survivors for a special community screening of My Underground Mother (2025), a gripping new documentary by journalist and filmmaker Marisa Fox. Twenty years after her mother’s death, Marisa unearths a family secret. Not only was her mother a survivor of a forced labour camp, but she was also part of an extraordinary sisterhood – with many survivors who settled in Toronto – whose experiences of sexual trauma and resistance remained untold for decades. Blending archival footage, animation, and testimony, My Underground Mother explores the lasting impact of trauma and the power of sisterhood.
Following the screening, director Marisa Fox will join us in person for a special audience Q&A to discuss the making of the film and the urgency of these stories today.
