“Our story could easily never have happened.”
– Daniela Gerson

Explore the remarkable family histories and discoveries in The Wanderers with author and immigration journalist Daniela Gerson. Presented by the Toronto Holocaust Museum, Miles Nadal JCC, and Jewish Immigrant Aid Services (JIAS).

Daniela met her wife, Talia Inlender, an immigration lawyer, at a picnic in Los Angeles. They bonded over a unique connection; their grandparents lived in the same small Polish town before fleeing east to survive the Holocaust. So begins this sweeping work of history, memoir, and research. Drawing on their grandparents’ stories and the histories of the communities they left behind, Daniela details this complex journey that spans three continents and time in a Soviet Gulag, escape through Central Asia, and the impossible choices refugees face when seeking safety.

Don’t miss this timely conversation around displacement, survival, and unearthed family secrets in The Wanderers.

Books will be sold at the event with an author signing.
