Award-winning solo performer Iris Bahr (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hacks, DAI (enough)) chronicles her peripatetic life, focusing on her experience in Israel on October 7th, when her son was camping on the beach in Ashkelon with her ex. During this harrowing time, she anxiously awaited his return in Tel Aviv. Bahr reflects on the familiar Jewish journey of constant worry, shaping her childhood, her parenting, and caring for elderly family.

ABOUT IRIS

Iris Bahr is an award-winning writer, actor, director, producer and host of the hit X-Rae and Near Death podcasts. She has written two humorous memoirs: Dork Whore, about her travels through Asia, and Machu My Picchu, about her adventures through South America and college experience. She also co-authored Book of Leon with comic JB Smoove. Her books have been translated into numerous languages and Dork Whore is currently being adapted into a feature film.

Having appeared on countless TV shows, Ms. Bahr is best known for her recurring role on Curb your Enthusiasm, where she plays Rachel Heinemann, the Orthodox Jewish Girl that gets stuck on a ski-lift with Larry David, Hacks, The Conners, and her cable series Svetlana, executive produced by Mark Cuban, which she also wrote and directed for two seasons.

Iris has written and performed six solo shows. Her most recent show, Stories from The Brink, premiered

in Montreal and won the 2024 Frankie Storytelling Award. She is headed to Toronto with her other show, See You Tomorrow, which was nominated for the 2024 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding New play. Her critically acclaimed solo show, “DAI (enough)”, which she also performed at the United Nations for over 100 ambassadors and delegates, had a hit run Off-Broadway, has toured around the world, and won the prestigious Lucille Lortel Award for Best Solo Performance, as well as two Drama Desk and UK Stage Award nominations.

As a stand-up comic, Iris has performed both in the US and abroad, including at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival. She performs stand-up regularly both in New York City and abroad, accompanied by a Jazz trio, combining her love of comedy and Jazz music, and also hosts a weekly podcast X-RAE, as her alter ego Rae Lynn Caspar White. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Brown University, where she studied Neuropsychology. She conducted brain research at Stanford and at the UCLA brain mapping center before pursuing acting and writing full time.

She currently resides in NY and when not touring and performing, teaches writing, conducts public speaking workshops and works with artists privately helping them develop and direct their work.
