The Gallery Attendant will supervise the space during exhibition hours, greet and engage with visitors, lead small group tours, and ensure artwork and facilities are respected and kept safe.

Gallery Attendants are engaged while exhibitions are open. As a result, the successful candidate may be called back for the upcoming exhibition, past the end date of this contract.

Gallery Attendants shifts may vary from 4 hours and 45 minutes to 16 hours per week.

Duties include but may not be limited to:

  • Ensuring the public, artwork and facilities are safe.
  • Arrive in a timely manner; conduct exhibition opening and closing procedures.
  • Welcome visitors, provide general information related to the organisation, exhibitions, events, e-newsletters sign-up and/or follow social media accounts.
  • Greet visitors with appointments and notify staff of their arrival.
  • Record accurate attendance of daily visitors, event participants and donations.
  • Conduct sales of exhibition publications and other merchandise as needed, managing the transactions and keeping accurate records of all sales.
  • Assist staff set-up chairs, tables, and other equipment for select artistic engagements, as needed.
