Call for participation!

The Miles Nadal JCC is looking for a new hanukia to display in the lobby throughout Hanuka. Over the next month and a half, we’ll be designing, building, and displaying a hanukia inspired by Sepharadi and Mizrahi artforms and styles

If you have Sepharadi or Mizrahi heritage and you’d like to join us for the design process, the building process, or both please send us a DM or email emunahw@mnjcc.org. We’ll be in touch in the coming weeks to coordinate an initial meeting.

What’s a hanukia? Some call it a “menora” which means candelabra. A hanukia is specifically the nine-branched candelabra that we light on the holiday of Hanuka each winter. Eight of the branches are level with one another, and the ninth is slightly separated, usually either above or in front of the row of eight.

We’re so grateful that this initiative has been made possible by a @kultura_to grant. Many thanks!
