The “Swinging Sixties” swept across the West like a tsunami, bringing with it a torrent of powerful personalities and events.
As part of the Hollywood Exiles concert Koffler Arts is co-presenting a trio of programs with the ARC Ensemble at the Miles Nadal JCC that celebrates Miklós Rózsa, including two screenings featuring Rózsa’s award-winning scores: The Lost Weekend (1944) directed by Billy Wilder, and Providence (1977) directed by Alain Renais, and a talk by Simon Wynberg, ARC Ensemble’s Artistic Director.

Dr. Owen Lyons, DocMedia Program Director and Assistant Professor in the School of Image Arts at Toronto Metropolitan University, will introduce Rózsa and the film.

Miklós Rózsa (1907-1995) wrote the score for Alain Resnais Providence (1977), the director’s first English-language film. The film won 7 Cesar Awards (the French Academy) including one for Rózsa’s score, one of which he was particularly fond.
