The JCC presents #NOVA, a documentary featuring real-time footage from the victims, first responders and go-pros of the terorists of October 7th.

The Nova tribe, a community of over 10,000 psychedelic trance music enthusiasts, has gathered annually for an outdoor festival in recent years. The festival, held on October 7th, 2023, in southern Israel near the Gaza border, ended in a horrific tragedy. Over 300 festivalgoers were murdered, and 40 more were abducted.

In the days following the incident, director Dan Pe’er, who had been volunteering to help survivors, began receiving numerous video and audio clips from those who survived the attack. “#NOVA” is a chilling documentary that recounts the events of that day, minute by minute, through the unfiltered footage captured by festival goers and the terrorists’ body cameras. The raw footage reveals the horrifying reality of October 7th.

After the screening we will be hosting a fireside chat with a group of people with family members taken on October 7th.

As part of this event, we are having some of the pieces from the Nova Festival that will be on display for guests to observe. The installation creates a sacred space that honors the memories of the victims and survivors, surrounded by remnants gathered from the festival grounds.
