The Toronto Holocaust Museum is proud to offer specially designed resources to assist educators in teaching about the complex history of the Holocaust.
Join the Toronto Holocaust Museum and Prosserman JCC for a screening of the beautiful motion comic, The Wolf of Baghdad, based on Carol Isaacs’ Iraqi-Jewish family. Originally a graphic memoir, each panel comes to life through captivating illustrations set to Judeo-Arabic and Iraqi music. In the 1940s, Baghdad had a thriving Jewish community, but within a decade, the nearly 150,000 Jews living in Iraq fled their homes due to increasing violence and persecution. Transported through the power of music and photographs, Isaacs explores a place that was once the flourishing home of her ancestors.
Following the screening, join us for an engaging panel discussion featuring the author and cartoonist Carol Isaacs and scholar of Jewish graphic novels Matt Reingold. Moderated by artist, curator, and consultant Noah Gano.
Books will be available for purchase after the program.
