A theatrical workshop facilitated by award-winning performer, director, and playwright, David Gale.

Theatrical workshop facilitated by award-winning performer, director, and playwright, David Gale. Students will work with original and translated Yiddish plays in a fun and engaging setting.

For Winter 2021 the Theatre Workshop with David Gale will be working with “The Dybbuk” by Sh. Ansky, adapted by Miriam Hoffman for the Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre in Montreal. This quintessential Yiddish tale of desire, darkness, and exiled spirits tells the story of love caught between two worlds, and a community torn between religion, superstition, and spiritualism. Two children, betrothed by their parents before birth, are drawn together years later in a desperate web of ill-fated love and possession.

All are welcome! Scripts are provided in transliteration, and no previous Yiddish or performance experience is required.
