Debora Vogel (1900-1942) wrote her avant garde prose being inspired by the technique of montage in photography and film, and collage in painting. Her experiments demonstrate an impressive range of expression in the Yiddish language and enable readers to engage with Yiddish literature in new ways.

Montage: Works by Debora Vogel, translated by Anastasiya Lyubas, is currently available for purchase from White Goat Press. Information on how to purchase this book from a Canadian bookseller will be coming soon.

Anastasiya Lyubas, who received her Ph.D. from Binghamton University, is the editor and translator of Blooming Spaces: The Collected Poetry, Prose, Critical Writing, and Letters of Debora Vogel (Boston: Academic Studies Press, 2020), which received the MLA Aldo and Jeanne Scaglione Prize honorable mention for the Translation of a Literary Work in 2021. She is also the translator of Montage: Works by Debora Vogel (Amherst, MA: White Goat Press, 2023), and she co-edited Walking with Vogel: New Perspectives on Debora Vogel through Poetry, Visual Art, Translation and Scholarship, a special issue of In Geveb: A Journal of Yiddish Studies (October 2021). She is currently working on an intellectual biography of Debora Vogel. alyubas@gmail.com
