On the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, join the Toronto Holocaust Museum – together with Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center, Canadian Society for Yad Vashem, the Azrieli Foundation, Facing History and Ourselves, and March of the Living Canada – as we co-present the annual Yom Hashoah commemoration for the entire community.

Explore Holocaust remembrance in a post-October 7 world with keynote speaker Yoni Berrous, International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem. Together, we will reflect on the life, spirituality, and vibrancy of prewar Jewish communities through an original short film. The program will also include a candle-lighting ceremony to pay tribute to the victims of the Shoah and to honour the survivors. We are grateful to be hosting the program at Beth Emeth Synagogue, with a livestream for those watching from home.

Key note speaker: Yoni Berrous, Educator

Yoni Berrous was born in France and moved to Israel in 1992. He has an MA in International Relations from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is currently the Head of the English-Speaking Countries Section at Yad Vashem. In 2007, Yoni Berrous began working as a guide for students and Israeli security personnel at Yad Vashem. He also worked as the Head of the European Jewish Programming in the International School for Holocaust Studies, providing educational training for formal and informal educators from Jewish communities in Europe.
