Koffler Arts excited to announce that this June they will welcome Polish artist, architect, and researcher Natalia Romik to present her exhibition Plague Crystals.

The exhibition will include a series of symbolic representations of contemporary plagues in the form of objects enclosed within crystal towers. The crystal vessels — vases, pots, and plates — are permanently fixed together, forming a translucent sculptural figure. This pyramidal construction recalls the plague towers of old, erected by survivors at the end of an epidemic to mark its passing. It invites close inspection of its constituent elements and provokes reflection on contemporary plagues.

A unique aspect of this exhibition is that we will build it together. Dr. Natalia Romik has requested leaded crystal to repurpose and transform into these striking crystal towers. If you have vases, glassware, or other leaded crystal homewares that you would like to donate to the exhibition, please email admin@kofflerarts.org to arrange a drop-off.
