Over six lively, slide-illustrated lectures, we’ll learn the thrilling stories of the artists whose radical vision changed how we look at art.

Monet, Degas, Cassatt, Renoir: the names are as recognizable as the beautiful scenes that they painted. But when they burst on the scene, in 1870s Paris, the artists that we now call The Impressionists were anything but familiar. They shocked and puzzled critics. They pioneered new techniques and took on exciting new subjects. They were truly radical, revolutionary artists.

In this exciting new series presented by Angela Glover, a Canadian art historian who’s led popular courses for the 92Y in New York, we’ll receive a fresh perspective on these artistic icons, exploring how their brushwork, unusual viewpoints and modern themes combined to capture the spirit of the time and the places they lived in.

Over six lively, slide-illustrated lectures, we’ll learn the thrilling stories of the artists whose radical vision changed how we look at art.
