A note from the Toronto Holocaust Museum on the occasion of their first anniversary. Congratulations to the team on an amazing first year serving Toronto!

Since the Toronto Holocaust Museum opened its doors one year ago, the Museum has been an essential space for dialogue, reflection, understanding, and remembrance. The THM is proud to be a place where people of all backgrounds reflect on the difficult history of the Holocaust, how it contributes to our present, and informs our collective future.

The legacy of the Holocaust and its vital lessons are in each of our hands. It is incumbent on all of us to remember our shared past while considering our resilience and strength as Canadians. Thank you for learning and growing with us during our first year as the THM.

Over the past year, the THM has welcomed nearly 50,000 visitors to the Museum, including 13,000 students. More than ever, education is needed to promote empathy and understanding, and the THM is proud to facilitate Holocaust education experiences for students from across Ontario.

Throughout the year, the THM has also trained hundreds of educators on countering antisemitism and approaching Holocaust education, providing them with tools and resources for foundational teaching and extending learning into their classrooms.

In our 47 public programs this past year, we have had the opportunity to explore the beauty and depth of Jewish life before, during, and after the Holocaust with our audiences. Many of these programs have brought generations together to learn from a shared past through traditions and culture, while others have explored the Holocaust through thematic lenses with partners and experts. Each of these programs has contributed to building a diverse, vibrant community around the Museum, for which we are deeply grateful.

We look forward to continuing to offer thoughtful pedagogy and programming while encouraging discovery, evoking curiosity, and inspiring further learning at the Toronto Holocaust Museum.

In honour of this incredible milestone, we are thrilled to offer the THM community 25% off your next visit to the Museum using the comp code THM1YR at checkout.

Have you visited the Museum this past year? The THM team would like to hear from you!
