The ReelAbilities Film Festival Toronto is back on May 11-19, 2023 with online and in-person events and screenings!

ReelAbilities Film Festival Toronto is the Canadian chapter of the ReelAbilities Film Festival – the largest film festival in North America showcasing narrative and documentary films about Deaf and disability cultures, and platforming the work of Deaf and/or disabled filmmakers and performers.

This year’s hybrid festival will screen 22 incredible films and host panels, filmmaker Q&As, in-person opening and closing night events, and our first ever public pitch competition!

Highlights include:

 

Opening Night Gala & Silent Disco at Bata Shoe Museum

    • Join us for opening remarks by our new Artistic Director Lora Campbell and ED Harriet Wichin, a sneak peek of the films being screened at the Festival this year, delicious food, a free photobooth station, and a silent disco! May 11 at 6 PM.

 

Closing Night – Award Ceremony and ASD Band Concert at Society Clubhouse

    • Come celebrate the final night of festival featuring an awards ceremony and the announcement of the winner of our first-ever Short Film Pitch Competition! Then get moving and grooving as the ASD Band – the charming subjects of the documentary Okay! (The ASD Band Film), screening on May 14th at Innis Town Hall and online – takes the stage to perform. May 19 at 6 PM.

 

Accessibility: 

ASL interpretation will be available at all events. All virtual live events will have CART, and all pre-recorded events will be captioned. All festival films will be made available with captions and audio description. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Can. COVID Policy: Masks are mandatory (may be removed temporarily for eating and drinking), and registration will be limited to allow for social distancing at the venues.
